Wedding Highlights : Image Of The Day

It’s time to take a stroll through some of my personal favourites, the shots I feel really show off the best of wedding photography from Belinda McCarthy Photography. Here, on this section you’ll find each post features a single image, giving a particular insight into what I find so special about the photograph, and why it really captures my aims and ambitions when I photograph weddings.

This section will be updated on a regular basis, showing off images from not only the documentary wedding photography work I undertake, but from all parts of the wedding day – from bridal prep, to guests, wedding decor details, flowers – anything, in fact, which I feel stands out as a lovely image with a particular story to tell. After all, weddings are stories, and our job as wedding photographers is to accurately capture and tell that story.

Don’t forget, the main wedding blog on the website is where to go for in-depth images of latest weddings, so make sure you head over there too!

Image of the Day: The Onlooker

At any wedding, during that special 'first dance' which kicks off the evening reception, all eyes are always on the bride and groom as they take to the floor. What that means, as a wedding photographer, is that you need to have YOUR eyes not only on the dancing, but...

Image of the Day : Joie de Vivre

If I had to make a list of the best things about being a wedding photographer, then I'm sure that pretty high up that list would come 'the feeling of seeing other peoples' happiness'. There's probably a fancy word for that, but it certainly isn't on the tip of my...

Image of the Day: A Throng of Bridesmaids

Is there an official term for a group of bridesmaids? A throng? A gaggle? A giggle, perhaps? I'm not sure... but what I do know is that this image of three bridesmaids getting ready for the big event at a recent wedding at Maunsel House in Somerset is one of my...

Image of the Day: The Portrait

When photographing a wedding, it's vital to keep in mind that I'm not only there to document the actual marriage, but the coming together of families and loved ones. From that perspective, it's important to make sure that those who are particularly dear to the bride...

Image of the Day : Ponytails

So, on first glance this might not look like a typical wedding picture - but this was taken during bridal and wedding party preparations at a recent lovely wedding in Tarrant Monkton, Dorset.  The wedding party and bridal prep took place at the bride's family home,...

Image of the Day: The Veil

For modern marriages, not every bride wears a veil - but when they do, it's always an impressive sight! Today's Image of the Day comes from a recent wedding I photographed at the stunning St Audries Park in West Somerset, where I was fortunate enough to be allowed to...

Image of the Day : The Sisterly Hug

When it's your wedding day, naturally you want the love and support of your family and friends around you. And that's one of the primary jobs of a wedding photographer - to document this love amidst the chaos of the wedding celebrations. At this particular wedding at...

Image of the Day: The Kiss

Today's Image of the Day is all about.... the first kiss. And this one, photographed a couple of months ago at a wonderful outdoor wedding ceremony at Maunsel House in Somerset, is a belter! As a wedding photographer, capturing that first kiss is a high priority - and...

The Best Of: Father & Daughter

Wedding photography is all about people and emotions and celebrations, about moments in time that the subjects in the photographs will look back and and remember vividly. Many of these moments are between the bride and groom, of course.  However, there are other...

The Best Of : Reflections

The use of reflections in wedding photography can be either a photographer's dream, or a photographer's nightmare! You've probably seen many images of bridal prep where we photograph the reflection of the bride or bridesmaids in the mirror, rather than photographing...

The Best Of: The Wedding Location

Ever dreamt of getting married in a woodland? If so, you're not alone. If you're like me then you'll find woodlands mysterious, magical, breathtaking. It's a perfect place for a special event, and a truly wonderful place to share with a loved one. That's why I was...

The Best Of: Wedding Makeup

It's rare for me to share a wedding image prior to releasing the actual preview blog, but ever since I've edited this one particular shot, I've come back to it time and again - and it spends a lot of time living on my computer desktop so I can look at it! This was...
