Wedding Highlights : Image Of The Day

It’s time to take a stroll through some of my personal favourites, the shots I feel really show off the best of wedding photography from Belinda McCarthy Photography. Here, on this section you’ll find each post features a single image, giving a particular insight into what I find so special about the photograph, and why it really captures my aims and ambitions when I photograph weddings.

This section will be updated on a regular basis, showing off images from not only the documentary wedding photography work I undertake, but from all parts of the wedding day – from bridal prep, to guests, wedding decor details, flowers – anything, in fact, which I feel stands out as a lovely image with a particular story to tell. After all, weddings are stories, and our job as wedding photographers is to accurately capture and tell that story.

Don’t forget, the main wedding blog on the website is where to go for in-depth images of latest weddings, so make sure you head over there too!

Image of the Day : Eyes and Ears

Sometimes, when you're photographing a wedding, a shot suddenly presents itself to you that absolutely HAS to be photographed! That was the case during this bridal preparation session for a wedding at Orchardleigh House in Somerset. As I was photographing the makeup...

Image of the Day : The Usher

Today's Image of the Day visits the part of the wedding day that I very much enjoy photographing; the preparations. Whilst there have been many images on this section of the blog from the bridal wedding party preparations, I thought it was about time to feature one...

Image of the Day: A Glance of Childhood

I often talk about how when it comes to wedding photography, the smallest moments are just as important as the big ones. I also never forget that a wedding day is the opportunity to see the crazy experience through a child's eyes - such as this moment, taken at a...

Image of the Day: Bluebell Wood

Today's Image of the Day comes from a wedding I photographed near Okehampton in Devon - and a short couples' portrait shoot in a truly stunning bluebell wood, just after the church wedding ceremony and on the way back to the wedding reception. This location was...

Image of the Day: Adjusting The Veil

Today's image of the day is revisiting that most iconic of bridal accessories - the wedding veil. How many brides wear a veil these days? Certainly less than they used to - but that doesn't mean that it's out of fashion! It's simply that there are a wider variety of...

Image of the Day : The Bride

Today's Image of the Day comes from a recent Dorset wedding day in Tarrant Monkton during the wedding reception speeches, which were held in a beautiful tipi packed to capacity!  When I'm photographing the wedding speeches, I'm always mindful that I need to balance...

Image of the Day : The Dress

On today's Image of the Day, I'm taking a look at the one thing which the bride probably spends more time thinking about than anything else on the run up to her wedding day - apart from the groom, that is! Yes, it's the wedding dress. Not only is every bride likely to...

Image of the Day: Hugs at Church

A Happy New Year to all of you, and I hope you've all had wonderful Christmastimes! If you're based in Dorset like me, or nearby, you probably didn't get the snow that much of the country enjoyed (although 'enjoyed' probably isn't the correct word if it was stopping...

Image of the Day : Share the Love

In my career photographing weddings throughout Dorset, Devon and Somerset - as well as further afield - I've seen many different types of weddings and enjoyed the thrill of photographing many people. Throughout every wedding, no matter how big or small, there is one...

Image of the Day : Engagement Shoot

Today, I'm deviating slightly from weddings to show you an image from an engagement shoot I photographed earlier this year. I'm lucky enough to work and live in a wonderful village called Shillingstone, which is in North Dorset in a designated area of Outstanding...

Image of The Day : Hugs for the Bridesmaids

You've probably seen me write on several occasions that documentary wedding photography isn't just about the big moments; in fact, it's much more concerned with all the little moments, which go into the creation of an emotional, enjoyable and unforgettable wedding...

Image of the Day : Barefoot

This is one from the archives, but definitely one of my favourite couples portraits from a wedding I've photographed, whether in Dorset or further afield. Let me tell you the story of this image. This wedding wasn't blessed with good weather, and we had a very short...
