I have just realised that I haven’t blogged this gorgeous celebration, and it’s high time I fixed that! It’s a wonderful Coombe Lodge summer wedding, set in the beautiful Somerset countryside in Blagdon, near Bristol – a venue i’ve worked at many times and never get tired of going back and photographing weddings at.

Let’s start at the beginning; the bride and groom prep. Yes, if you’re a regular reader of this blog by now, you’ll know that this is one of my favourite parts of a wedding day! A venue like Coombe Lodge makes it SO easy to photograph the preparations, as typically the bride and groom get ready on site, so I can run between rooms and capture a really good feel of what’s going on. In addition, the rooms are so large, spacious and photogenic that it’s frankly a dream to shoot in – particularly when you have such a lovely young couple as this as your subject matter!

The excitement during the preparation for a wedding day is palpable, and particularly so when seen through the eyes of a child. That’s why when there is a small boy or girl involved in the wedding day prep, such as with this wedding, I try and ensure I get some images of what he or she is feeling and seeing. It adds a wide eyed and innocent dimension to documenting a wedding. Imagine being a child, watching all this for the very first time. How exciting! – and somewhat bewildering, too, being in a strange place with so much activity happening, people you love showing such emotion.

So onto the images from the bride and the groom prep! The couple married in a civil ceremony at Coombe Lodge shortly afterwards – and the bride looked absolutely glorious. It’s something special to be able to photograph a young couple such as this, whose relationship has spanned continents and whose love is so obviously worn on their sleeves. I hope you enjoy the images I’ve chosen to show you today.
