When you’re planning an outdoor wedding ceremony, there’s one thing you hope and pray that is going to be kind to you – the weather! I’ve photographed many outdoor ceremonies over the past few years, and I have to say – touch wood – that I’ve never had one rained off. I’ve had quite a few that were NEARLY deluged – and this beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony at Shillingstone House in Dorset was one of them!
Of course, venues which offer the pleasure of an outdoor wedding ceremony, such as Shillingstone House, always have the option to move the ceremony indoors to another licensed area. (We live in Britain, after all!). But, if you’ve planned to get married in the open air, that’s the last thing you really want to happen of course. So, on this particular day in September, the bride and groom were truly lucky to be able to exchange their vows in the gorgeous grounds of Shillingstone House….. just before the heavens opened and the guests had to move indoors!
Even if the rain had fallen, there would have been no dampening of the love between this couple – and it’s truly evident to see how they light each other up in these wedding ceremony photographs. I would actually DEFY the rain to fall on this truly special exchange of vows! It wouldn’t have dared! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a couple more connected, more delighted to be married, and more excited to share their lives together. It’s a moment I’ll remember for a long time to come.
Of course, it was a shame that the incredible views that normally framed this lovely outdoor ceremony space weren’t visible through the thick cloud – but who was looking at the view when these two were shining like beacons?
Anyway, let’s get to the images – and enjoy some wonderful moments from a rather grey, but still gorgeous, outdoor wedding ceremony at Shillingstone House in Dorset!
